Poems
In my early years I used to write poetry all the time, but in recent days the muse has been more often absent than present. However, there are a few poems that I think merit inclusion in this site.
The first was written 5 years before I became a Christian, but demonstrates clearly that, although I had no interest in Christianity at that time, the Spirit of God was at work on me somewhere in the background.
The others were written more recently, with many years behind me of walking with God and the church.
I wrote this poem in 1972, some 5 years before committing my life to Christ. I was in Winchester, county Hampshire, in the grounds of the cathedral. Although I was not a Christian at the time, and had no interest in Christianity, yet there was something about the cathedral that inspired me.

As humans we have the tendency to create God in our own image - be that a religious or an irreligious image. Any such imagination is an insult to His uniqueness and perfection, but the bottom line is that He is willing, ready, and eager to forgive us and move on, no matter how repugnant we've been. That's good news.

People have a tendency to put you in a box with a label that has you categorised and compartmentalised. Sometimes we even try to put God in a box - which is not a very sensible thing to do! Jesus came to the earth, went to the cross, and then rose from the dead to make a way for us all to get OUT of the boxes that we ourselves and other people had tried to force us into.
